Southampton defender Cuco Martina rose to international prominence with an instant comparison to Michael Essien after scoring an incredible goal in their English Premier League match against Arsenal on Saturday.
Football fans all over the world will not have known the right-back before the match but his stunning instantly made people take notice and a sudden comparison with a goal Essien scored.
The defender, who joined Southampton for £1million from Dutch side FC Twente in summer, scored the incredible goal, from 30 yards out to stun Arsenal.
And the goal, from the outside of his right foot, was skilfully hit from the distance and craftily bent just inside the post beating the Arsenal goalkeeper.
Martina was instantly compared with another great goal scored by the then Chelsea star Michael Essien in similar circumstances in 2006 against the same side.
