Upturn in form pleases McClaren

Steve McClaren insists hard work has been the key to QPR's rise up the Championship table but the former England manager is refusing to relax.

QPR have picked up 10 points from their last four fixtures and are unbeaten in five games in all competitions after beating Millwall 2-0 on Wednesday.

It has been quite a transformation as QPR lost their first four Championship fixtures including a 7-1 drubbing at West Brom and 3-0 home loss to Bristol City.

McClaren said ahead of Saturday's clash with Norwich City at Loftus Road, which QPR are 29/20 to win: "I said this was a big week for us and the players so far have handled it very well.

"However, I think we need to be better in second halves of games to control matches rather than just be holding on to leads.

"I think the improvement has been a combination of the loan players [Tomer Hemed, Nahki Wells and Geoff Cameron] coming in and everyone working damn hard on the training field."

QPR can now be backed at 5/1 to be relegated this season, while Ipswich Town are 11/10 to go down and Reading 11/8.
