Uriah Asante has been backed by his former coach at Pure Joy to be an instant hit when he finally agrees to join champions Kotoko.

The promising playmaker  looks set to join the Porcupine Warriors from his parent club, Pure Joy.

He was farmed out to Hearts of Oak on a season’s long loan but decided not to extend his stay after the expiration of the contract.

His former coach at the second-tier side, Nii Noi Thompson says the highly-rated enforcer has the attributes to thrive in Kumasi.

“Uriah is  very good, skillful and  intelligent player. He is not a midfielder but has an attacking mind,” Thompson told Accra-based Radio XYZ

“Any player that plays for Hearts should be able to play in any team and I believe he will be a great player for Kotoko.

“I just hope that they will give him a free role to operate because that’s where he functions better.”

There has been no official confirmation yet from Kotoko or Pure Joy about any deal, but reports have suggested the 19-year-old, will agree a two-year contract with the Kumasi-based side.

Tunisia giants Etoile du Sahel have reportedly tabled a $200,000 offer for his services.
