Utah Valley University have added Ghanaian striker Sharif Sayawu to their rooster for the spring season.
The Agona Duakwa native is among four international athletes including Dan McKay (Wellington, New Zealand), Jacob Deng (Juba, South Sudan), and Toke Amtrup (Svendborg, Denmark).
Sayawu schooled at Odupong Senior High School and played his club soccer at the Phoenix Academy, which has produced numerous MLS, USL, and NCAA Division I athletes since its inception in 2018.
Sayawu was his team’s top goal scorer in 2023 with 15, and was named the Phoenix Academy Showcase’s best player in 2024.
