Valencia ace Geoffrey Kondogbia cleared to swap France for Central African Republic

Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has been cleared by Fifa to swap national allegiances to play for Central African Republic (CAR).

The 25-year-old had represented France in the U16 level down to the senior level – and played a vital role as the European country's U20 side won the Fifa World Cup in 2013.

Although he has played five games for Les Bleus at the senior level but they were not in competition – hence, the decision to switch allegiance to CAR.

Kondogbia was invited by CAR boss Raoul Savoy for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea, but injury has ruled him out.

CAR are second in Group H and victory over the Syli National at the Stade du 28 Septembre, Conakry will brighten their chances of reaching their first ever Afcon appearance.
