Östersunds FK defender Samuel Mensiro has revealed his side are gunning to clinch the forthcoming Swedish Allsvenskan league.

With the Jämtkraft Arena outfit finishing 6th last term under Grahama Potter, many expected the Red and Black lads to struggle without the Englishman who guided them from the regional tiers to the top-flight Allsvenskan with three promotions, and won the Swedish Cup.

Östersunds will kick-off their campaign with a stern match against defending champions AIK Stockholm on Sunday, March 31, with the hope of starting with a victory.

Mensiro has disclosed that him and his teammates are aiming to get off to a positive start which could help them win this year's championship.

"We want to be at the top at the end of the season,” Mensah told reporters in Sweden after Wednesday's training.

“We hope make a good start against AIK though we're aware that it'll not be easy because they have always been a difficult team to beat."

"Winning the league is the priority this season and though we didn't the Svenska Cupen, the performance we showed gives us the license to dream about the title."

Mensiro, who was deployed in several positions across the back line last season, scored one goal in 14 league matches for the side.

He has started the campaign on a bright note after featuring 3 times in the Swedish Cup.
