Sekondi Hasaacas shot stopper, George Owu, says he is still in contention for a place in the Black Stars and is hoping to receive a call-up by the handlers of the team.

He contended that the Stars needed a more experienced player to resolve the goalkeeping problem of the team once and for all.

Some Ghanaians are still not happy with the quality of the goalkeepers in the Black Stars with Fatau Dauda, Adam Kwarasey and Stephen Adams who made the squad to the World Cup.

Owu who spoke to the Graphic Sports, said even though he was disappointed he was not part of the team that played at the World Cup in Brazil, he was hopeful that Coach Kwasi Appiah and the team’s goalkeepers’ trainer would consider him for the upcoming qualifers for the Africa Cup of Nations next year.

“I’m still working very hard and football lovers will see a different George Owu come next season”.

"I was one of the three best players nominated for the SWAG awards this year and that tells you that my performance was good, so I hope to improve on it to make it better this season,” he stated.
