Head coach of Asante Kotoko Prosper Narteh Ogum has highlighted the importance of his outfit victory over Basake Holy Stars in the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors secured a narrow victory over Basake Holy Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Samuel Tenedu’s deflected strike in the 14th minute proved to be the difference, securing Kotoko their third consecutive win and extending their unbeaten run to four matches.

The Porcupine Warriors are now one point clear at the summit, benefiting from Bibiani Gold Stars’ failure to win at home against Hearts of Oak.

Speaking after the game, Ogum eulogized his players for the marvelous job so far this season while insisting his outfit victory over Holy Stars is a confidence booster for the team.

“I will commend the players for the good job they’ve done so far. If you look at the tight schedules of the fixtures it doesn’t give players enough time to rest but they’ve shown high levels of energy in the all the matches played” he said.

“For the victory, I think it’s a good one for us. It gives us a lot of confidence. To play in the Ghana Premier League and to be on top gives you a lot of hope” he said

With momentum on their side, Kotoko will turn their attention to their next home fixture against Berekum Chelsea, where they will aim to strengthen their hold on the league’s top spot.
