Barcelona moved a point behind Real Madrid atop the La Liga table with a 1-0 victory over Valladolid on Saturday.

Arturo Vidal smashed home from inside the box in the 15th minute after Lionel Messi laid a cushioned ball into his path to complete a fine interchange of passes on the egde of the area.

The win gives Barca 79 points from 36 matches, trailing only the tally of Madrid who still have a game in hand. Valladolid remain in 14th place with 39 points.

The Catalans are next in action on Thursday when they host Osasuna in La Liga. Valladolid will visit Eibar that same day.
