Ghana legend Abedi Pele broke down in tears on national television when paying tribute to those who helped him to become a great footballer who was known globally for his exploits.

The three-time African Footballer of the Year became emotional when the owner of his colts team Great Farcos, Mr Herbert Adikah, now blind, walked into the GTV studio during the live interview.

He also paid tribute to former Asante Kotoko chief  S. K. Manu who offered him a scholarship to attend school while naming others like Alhaji B.A. Fuseini, Aliu Mahama, former Vice President of the country, Alhaji Maikano and Ben Koufie.

Abedi Pele, is a Ghanaian former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder and who served as captain of the Ghana national team.

He is regarded as one of the greatest African footballers of all time.

He played for several European clubs and found his fame in the French Ligue 1 with Lille and Marseille, the latter where he won the UEFA Champions League in 1993, among other titles.
