VIDEO: André Ayew's delightful assist in Swansea's big win against Reading

Published on: 23 July 2020

Ghana forward André Ayew provided an assist as Swansea City defeated Reading FC 4-1 to book their 2019/20 Championship playoff spot.

Ahead of the final day of the season, the Jack Army needed to win and hope Cardiff City and Nottingham Forest slip to realize their dream of qualifying for the playoff.

On-loan Liverpool frontman Rhian Brewster calmed the nerves of the Jack Army faithful after opening the scoring for the visitors in the 17th minute.

But George Puscas pegged back the score line with a fine strike in the 43rd minute.

However, a brace from Wayne Routledge and Liam Cullen in the second stanza secured the Welsh-based side a playoff berth.

Ayew, who supplied the assist for Cullen’s goal, played the entire duration of the match.

He scored 15 goals and picked 7 assist in 44 league matches.

Swansea picked the last qualifying ticket after Nottingham Forest lost disgracefully by 4-1 at home against Stoke City.

The result saw Swansea move up to 6th with 70 points from 46 games, same number of points as Forest but with a superior goal difference.
