Black Queens coach Mercy Tagoe explained why her team were thrashed 3-0 by South Africa in the Aisah Buhari Cup on Friday.

The South Africans proved too strong for the Black Queens and put three past them in the matchday 3 encounter, which happens to be the two teams first match of the maiden competition.

South Africa produced delightful fare in the first half, which ended with them leading 1-0 thanks to a 17th-minute goal by Hildah Magaia.

After the break, Ghana looked the likelier to score and it could well have materialised.

But in the 53rd minute, the South Africans caught Ghana napping and doubled their lead through Kgatlana Thembi.

At the death, Sibulele Holweni drove the final nail in the Ghana coffin with South Africa's third goal.

After the game, Tagoe said her team was not at the level of the South Africans.
