Ghana defender Harrison Afful believes his goal in the first leg win over New York City FC played a crucial role in Columbus Crew's qualification to the final of the MLS Eastern Conference.
Afful drilled in a superb final goal in the 4-1 win at the MAPFRE Stadium and that helped the Black and Gold to advance despite losing 2-0 on Sunday.
''I think it was really important [talking about the final goal in the 4-1 win at home], Afful said in a post-match interview.
''You know coming here and losing two-zero. I think it was very difficult and I think that fourth goal helped us.
''It was a team performance. So far so good, we have to get going, keep fighting everytime because we already want to be the top. I think we did great. So far it's been great
''So we just have to enjoy this moment, keep our heads up and think about the next game.''
Crew SC is set to host Toronto FC for the first Leg on Tuesday, November 21.
The return leg will be on Wednesday, November 29.
