Ghanaian winger Latif Blessing could not hide his delight after Los Angeles FC walloped Seattle Sounders in the MLS Is Back tournament on Monday night.

LAFC secured a ticket to the quarterfinal stage of the competition after thumping arch-rivals Seattle Sounders 4-1 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Center.

Blessing doubled his side's lead in the 39th minute after his curled shot deflected off the arms of Seattle defender Shane O'Neill.

Diego Rossi had given LAFC the lead after just 14 minutes, when he expertly converted from the spot following a penalty he won by himself after he was tripped off by Xavier Arreaga in the box.

The MLS champions pulled one back in the 75th minute through Will Bruin, but any form of a fight back was immediately dashed when Diego Rossi netted his second of the game with eight minutes left.

With the game beyond Seattle, LAFC hit the final nail in the coffin of the Sounders after Brian Rodriguez cut onto his left to finish off brilliantly.

Seattle Sounders put the breaks on Bob Bradley’s side in the semifinal of the MLS last term, ending their dream of landing their maiden major title.

“‪We are going to final for good. We need it, we’re going to final straight. I feel so happy because last year they quashed our dream so this season we are happy to kick them out‬,” elated Blessing said.

The LAFC will face Orlando City in Friday's quarter finals.
