VIDEO: Massive support for Ghana star Andre Ayew during league match in Qatar

Published on: 18 August 2022

Ghanaian star Andre Ayew is adored, as evidenced on Wednesday when some Ghanaians in Qatar went to watch the Black Stars captain play in a Qatari Stars league match.

About 100 Ghanaians were at the Al Rayyan Stadium to cheer on Ayew, who was impressive in Al Sadd's 3-2 victory over Al-Ahli Doha.

Despite failing to score in the five-goal thriller, Ayew's work rate was impressive and appreciated by fans. He was heavily involved in the winning goal scored by Brazilian Rodrigo Tabata.

The Ghanaian fans sang their hearts out as they cheered Ayew and his teammates to victory.

Al Sadd, who won the championship last season thanks to Ayew's outstanding performances, have had a slow start to the new season.

The victory over Al-Ahli is their first after drawing and losing their first two games. They have four points and are five points behind first-placed Al-Arabi.

Meanwhile, Ayew has only scored one goal this season, which came in the Asian Champions League.

The Black Stars captain is yet to score in the league, but his efforts have not gone unnoticed. He is trusted by both his manager and his teammates, and he continues to receive high praise in the Arab world.

Ayew scored 15 league goals and led Al Sadd to the league title last season. He also assisted the club in winning the Emir Cup.

With three months until the World Cup in Qatar, Ayew is eager to lead the Black Stars to the semi-finals of the global showpiece for the first time.

Ghana will compete against Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay in the group stage.
