Defender Daniel Opare is backing Ghana to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

The Standard Liege right-back in a video message to his Black Stars teammates, says he is looking forward to the team returning victorious with the African cup.

Ghana has not won the Nations Cup in 31-years but is aiming to break this trophy drought this term in South Africa.

And despite a slow start to the campaign with a 2-2 draw with DR Congo, the 22-year-old Ghana international who missed the AFCON through injury is backing his compatriots in the Black Stars team to emerge victorious at the end of the tournament.

“I would like to wish my country good luck in the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa,” he said.

“I believe in my country, I believe in all the players who have been selected for the Ghana national team.

“And I am praying so much for them so that they can win the ultimate and come back to Ghana with victory.”

Ghana will be playing its second group game against Mali on Thursday haven thrown away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with DR Congo in the opening Group B fixture on Sunday.
