The spokesperson for the Sports Ministry Kofi Asare Brako has confirmed his outfit takes responsibility for the unpaid salaries and bonuses of ex-Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah.

Appiah has threatened to take legal action against the Ghana FA if his US$ 185,000 salary arrears is not paid.

He was owed five months' salary plus a bonus for matches won but the Ghana FA said the payment is not theirs to make.

''It's the ministry not the FA. Actually what happens is that, the ministry is the supervisory body of football and for that matter sports in general but it's FA who employs the coach and recommends him to the ministry for the ministry to also pay,'' Brako told Metro TV

'Under the circumstance, why Kwesi Appiah is on the neck of the GFA is because: he signed the contract with the FA and not the ministry.''
