à America striker Clint Dempsey had his faced smashed when he went into a tackle with Ghana defender John Boye during Monday's World Cup clash
The United States of America took an early lead against Ghana thanks to a tremendous solo effort from Seattle Sounders star Clint Dempsey, but the former Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham forward was on the receiving end of a nasty challenge only moments later.
Rennes star John Boye attempted a rather strange header for the Black Stars, and somehow shinned Dempsey in the nose, drawing blood.
Dempsey can at least console himself with the fact that he not only scored the fifth fastest goal in World Cup history, but also became the first ever American to score in three World Cups.
