The first Super Clash game of the season between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak ended goalless at the Accra Sports Stadium in this outstanding Ghana Premier League fixture.

Both teams spurned numerous chances to score and the goalless draw at the end was surely not a reflection of the many chances each side had.

The Porcupine Warriors were awarded a penalty as early as the second minute when Kwame Poku was brought down in the box by Nuru Sulley.

The Kotoko marksman missed his spot-kick to deny Asante Kotoko from taking the lead after the ball was saved by Richard Attah.

Hearts of Oak had a chance to break the deadlock a few minutes later but a timely intervention by Kotoko goalkeeper Razak Abalorah denied the Phobians

The two sides played cautiously in the first half as it ended barren.

Hearts of Oak were awarded a penalty in the second half after Isaac Mensah was fouled by Razak Abalorah in the box.

The Kotoko goalkeeper redeemed himself by saving the kick to prevent his side from losing the game.

Asante Kotoko were inches away from scoring in the 85th minute but the woodwork denied  Kwame Poku.

Hearts of Oak will be delighted to pick a point after a difficult few weeks which saw the resignation of their coach Kosta Papic and other backroom staff.

Asante Kotoko meanwhile missed the chance to close the gap on top of the table after dropping points despite having some outstanding matches to play.
