Villa add Wesley for firepower

Premier League new boys Aston Villa have boosted their attacking options with the club record signing of Club Brugge's Brazilian striker Wesley Moraes.

The 22-year-old has scored 35 goals in 117 appearances for Brugge, helping them claim the Belgian league title in both 2015/16 and 2017/18.

He becomes the third signing Villa have made since they secured a return to the top-flight with a Championship play-off final victory over Derby County, with loanee Anwar El Ghazi penning a permanent deal and forward Jota signed from neighbours Birmingham City.

Meanwhile, current Villans striker Scott Hogan accepts that he may be forced to move on in a bid to secure regular first-team football.

The 27-year-old Republic of Ireland international moved to Villa Park from Brentford in January 2017 and has since scored ten goals in 61 appearances in all competitions.

However, despite having previously worked with Villa boss Dean Smith during their time with the Bees, Hogan is clear that he may have to move elsewhere to get what he wants.

He told RTE: "I have got a good relationship with the manager.

"He has had me before and he knows what I'm about. I've got to go in and get my head down and try to break into that team.

"If I can't do that then I have to hold my hands up and look elsewhere. It's up to the manager and the people above him."

Villa are available at 9/4 to be relegated next season, while they are 4/11 to beat the drop.
