Vitoria Guimaraes have confirmed influential midfielder Alhassan will miss the next few games due to a sprained knee.

The 25-year-old twisted his knee in the game against Konyaspor last week and subsequent tests have revealed an inner fluid damage that is likely to take 30 days to heal.

The midfielder who returned to the Portugues league after just six months in the French league has been one of the consistent performers for Guimaraes this season with his break up play essential to the coach Pedro Martin’s set up.

This injury is the first major one the midfielder has suffered in three years and it comes at a time where the club is hoping to finish the first half of the season in style with games against Feirense, and FC Porto coming up next.

He is now likely to sit out the until the team returns for the new year fixtures.
