Warnock ready for 'amazing' game

Published on: 20 April 2019

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock insists his players will give a good account of themselves in Sunday's match against title-chasing Liverpool.

The Bluebirds' 2-0 victory at fellow strugglers Brighton on Tuesday has enhanced their hopes of avoiding the drop and Warnock is refusing to accept that defeat to Jurgen Klopp's team is a foregone conclusion.

He said: "The dressing room was elated [after Tuesday's win]. "Not just the fact that we'd won, but the way that we won.

"I think we played very well on the night and we were always aware that if we hadn't won then that would be it.

"It's going to be an amazing game [against Liverpool. Everybody's talking about it, so the atmosphere will be fabulous and we'll try to enjoy it as much as we can, because you've got to do that when the pressure's on.

"We'll just have to play the best we can and put in a good performance against one of the best sides in the world at the moment. I don't like my teams losing concentration and the fans are really looking forward to it, so we've got to give a good account of ourselves for them.

"I don't want it to be an occasion where we say it's a lovely day and get battered. I want us to put up a fight and that's what we've been working on. We've got to keep those good standards up for the rest of the season."

Cardiff can be backed at 16/1 to beat Liverpool.
