Newly promoted Wassaman FC are set to sign goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy from Accra Hearts of Oak, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.

The Tarkwa-based side are locked in negotiations with Hearts officials for the release of the 28-year-old who struggled for playing time last season.

Coach Karim Zito, who has taken temporary charge of Wassaman, confirmed the club are in talks with Hearts over McCarthy.

"They are still negotiating for a deal with Hearts so hopefully we will have him with the team," Zito said.

McCarthy was a member of the Ghana team that finished second in the 2010 Nations Cup in Angola.
