Former Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu wants ex-Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan to join the team to the 2022 World Cup as strikers coach.

Early this week, Asamoah Gyan revealed his desire to play at the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

However, Agyemang-Badu believes the 36-year-old will not be ready physically for the Mundial but can work with the strikers to be sent to the World Cup.

"What we can offer him is for him to be there to help with the striking side as the striker’s coach but for the field of play, he can never be ready for the World Cup," he toldJoy Sports.

Asamoah Gyan and Agyemang-Badu played together at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The former Black Stars captain remains the African player with the most goals at the FIFA World Cup after three appearances.

Ghana's all-time leading scorer, with 51 goals played for the Black Stars last played for Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities in 2021.
