We want to bring back the glory days at Kotoko- Ismael Ganiyu ahead of Coton Sport clash

Asante Kotoko defender Ismael Ganiyu says players of the club want to return the team to its glory days. 

The Porcupine Warriors travel to Cameroon to face Coton Sports de Garoua in the play-offs of the CAF Confederations Cup on Sunday.

And with the group stages of the competition at stake, the defender who joined the club from Karela disclosed the aim of the players is to win trophies for the club.

”It’s going to be like other games but at a different level. We want to qualify to the money zone, we are going there with the target to win the game. Our worse should be a draw,” Ganiyu told footballmadeinghana.com

“We want to return home with a victory. We want to return the club to where it belongs. We want to bring back the glory days.”

The last time the Porcupine Warriors won a continental trophy was in 1983, when they were triumphant in the CAF Champions League.

The closest they came to winning the Confederations Cup was in 2004, when the ended as runners up after losing to arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in the finals.
