"We will try to annoy the Black Stars" - Madagascar coach Corentin Martins

Madagascar national football team, the Barea, are set to have a crucial game against Ghana's Black Stars in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers for 2026 on Monday evening.

With just two points separating the two top teams in Group I, head coach Corentin Martins has said his team will not be afraid to face the four-time African champions.

"We're going to play our way. We're going to try to annoy them [Black Stars] as much as possible," Martins was quoted in a video released on Sunday.

He admitted that Ghana's standard is high, and that "Ghana has great players who play in major European leagues," but insisted that "in football, anything is possible."

The match, to be contested in Morocco's Al Hoceima, is crucial for both teams. Madagascar, currently on ten points, are searching for a follow-up to their recent victory over the Central African Republic.

"We have to play the same kind of game in order to stand a chance of winning points from Ghana," Martins clarified.

There is no time for games, though. And yet the French tactician says there is no additional pressure on his men.

"This game is not decisive on Monday because there are four other games still to be played," he calmed, stressing the importance of motivation and a good mindset.

With both teams vying for World Cup qualification, there is a fierce battle expected as Madagascar tries to shock Ghana and take control of Group I.
