Former Ghana U-20 coach Orlando Wellington believes a lot of psyching up and motivation of players will do the trick for the side against Uganda.

The Black Satellites need to overturn a 3-1 deficit suffered in the first leg of the African Youth Championship qualifier against The Hippos in a fortnight.

The team have been under a lot of pressure to show glimpses of the spark that made them Wafu, Africa and World Champions in 2009.

They now have a unique opportunity to win over the Ghanaian fans by accounting for the Ugandans in the second leg to progress in the qualifiers and Wellington believes improved mental fortitude and immense motivation will be enough to do the trick.

“I know they (Uganda) will come here to defend their two goals that they have so in this case we have to be cautious since we will be doing more of the attacking,” he told Kumasi-based Dove FM.

“The boys need to be psyched and well motivated to play this game like it is their final.

“It will not be easy just because we have the advantage of playing at home. Nowadays you can’t underestimate your opponent.

“If the players play above themselves and listen to the instructions of the coach I believe Ghana will qualify.”

Ghana will face either Morocco or Gambia in the ultimate qualifier if they dispatch off Uganda in the second leg match expected to be played in Tamale.
