WERDER BREMEN, Djilobodji banned for the \'throat cutting\' gesture

Published on: 22 March 2016

Papy Djilobodji joined Chelsea at the end of the summer 2015 transfer window before being loaned out in January to Werder Bremen.

A German (DFB) panel will meet on Monday to discuss Djilobodji's 'throat cutting' gesture made at an opponent during a Bundesliga game. It is understood a decision on any punishment for the player will be announced by Wednesday. Probably then he'll be banned for Werder Bremen next game against Borussia Dortmund on 2nd of April , an essential match to avoid relegation, given that they are only one point above Eintracht Frankfurt in 17th.

Coach Viktor Skripnik admitted Djilobodji has "a temper" and expects there to be consequences for his gesture, adding: "I'll accept whatever comes."

Bremen's director told Sky in Germany: "I'll have a serious talk to him about it and he won't do it again in the future."
