York City's highly-rated starlet Ben Godfrey is a target for West Brom.

The Mirror says the teenager has impressed this term after breaking into York's side despite them struggling in League Two.

The powerful 6ft 3in midfielder, 17, scored his first senior goal in York's 2-1 defeat at home to Plymouth Argyle last Saturday.

And Albion have been alerted by Godfrey rejecting professional terms at the club.

The trainee will now be available for just compensation in January and Barnsley have already opened the bidding, offering £25,000.
