West Ham boss Bilic: Oxford can handle Everton start

Published on: 05 March 2016

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic says Reece Oxford can handle a start against Everton.

Bilic returns to another former club today when West Ham travel to Goodison Park to face Everton, and he will do so without injured defenders James Collins, Winston Reid and James Tomkins.

But he insists he is not taking a huge leap of faith by throwing in 17-year-old Reece Oxford, who will be up against 17-goal scorer Romelu Lukaku - because the kid can handle the jump.

Bilic said: "Reece is fearless. You don't do bungee jumping when you are 47, you do it when you are 18. You can't wait to do it. Reece is like that.

"He is very calm, part of the new generation that is young and brave and confident. He doesn't think of mistakes. He is like Dele Alli. He knows he is good and is positive."
