West Ham ready to make £15m move for Barcelona's Martin Braithwaite

West Ham are looking to make a bid for Martin Braithwaite as they look to boost a flagging attack that has left them fighting relegation from the Premier League this term.

The Hammers as well as Everton had shown interest in the Barcelona striker who only arrived at the Nou Camp in February for £15million in a controversial emergency signing approved by La Liga.

Barca are keen to make a profit for the former Leganes striker who across all competitions has scored eight goals across 30 appearances this term.

However, the Spanish champions may be willing to allow the former Middlesbrough forward to leave for a similar price they purchased him for, especially as he is likely to be deemed surplus to requirements this summer.

Braithwaite was brought to Barca to provide emergency cover to an attack that had been stripped bare following long term injuries to the likes of Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele.

He as featured three times since joining Barca but has failed to get on the scoresheet in any of those games.

Despite the short term nature of the deal, Braithwaite has a contract in place until the summer of 2024 and even has a £266million (€300million) release clause.

The 28-year-old's previous spell in British football came at the Riverside Stadium where from 2017 to 2019 he scored eight goals in 36 appearances.
