West Ham situation can keep top players away from big clubs - Sir Trevor Brooking

West Ham United legend Sir Trevor Brooking believes that the rise of the clubs like the Hammers and Leicester City can prevent the monopoly of big clubs over top players.

Brooking believes that the East London club's recent acquisitions of Dimitri Payet and Manuel Lanzini prove that even smaller clubs can compete for the top players in the transfer market and has backed the Hammers to have a major impact on the league when they move to the Olympic Stadium this summer.

"People can say what's to stop big clubs still coming in for them, but if I was a player on the platform that they are given at West Ham, a club where the fans enjoy watching you and now with the new stadium, it's a great opportunity for them and anyone else who comes in," said Brooking.

"With three or four new players, the right sort of people, I think they can be very dangerous next year."
