Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak admit their whizkid Tawrick Jibril will leave the club in the coming days after the player applied to be a free agent.

The Kumasi-born talented player has applied for floating at the Status Committee of the Ghana FA which will allow him to leave for free.

For the first time Hearts have admitted that they have lost the player insisting they did everything to hold onto the midfielder.

“We did everything to meet the demands of the player and his agent but when the time came for us to meet over the deal he failed to turn up,” Hearts spokesman Albert Commey said.

“Our supporters have been worried about the turn of events but we did everything to make sure that he stays. We did our best.

“You can force the horse to go to the river but you can’t force him to drink.

“Tawrick must understand that greater players came to Hearts of Oak and left but the team is still here and will still be there.

“We will continue without him, we will be better without him and we will continue to thrive.”

The player’s agent Prince Omar also revealed that the player has decided to leave Hearts after consultations with his family.

“The family of the player, the player and myself have all agreed that it is in the best interest of Tawrick to leave Hearts,” Omar said.

Jibril’s contract with the 2000 African Champions has ended.

The Ghana Under-20 player, often touted as one of the next big thing in Ghana Football, had a season to forget with Hearts last term when he was often confined to the bench.
