Last season was quite a special one for Premier League fans, especially for those whose allegiance lies in the red of Liverpool. The Merseyside giants finally ended their decades-long wait for a Premier League title, but who will win the Premier League in 2020/21?
After seven rounds of matches, this season promises to be even crazier than the last. Everton and Aston Villa made a strong start, stirring the prospects of another Leicester City-like fairytale. But, consecutive defeats for both teams have somewhat subdued those expectations.
So, who is the utmost favourite to grace the field with golden patches on their sleeves the next season? Can Jurgen Klopp’s men do it again? Can Manchester City dethrone the defending champions? Can Mourinho’s second season magic drive Spurs over the finishing line?

Manchester City have had a shaky start to the season, but bookies still believe they can turn this around and go all the way. Currently, their odds stand at 13/10. Spurs seem quite rejuvenated under Mourinho this season, and they stand the third favourite with 7/1 odds. High spending Chelsea comes fourth with 12/1. Manchester United and Arsenal both have 33/1. Leicester City’s odds of winning the league is 50/1.
Who Are Our Picks?
We are backing Liverpool to emerge victorious once again, despite losing their star defender Virgil Van Dijk to a long-term injury. The Reds have been far from perfect this season, and have even suffered a humiliating 7-2 defeat to Aston Villa this season.
But, they still occupy the top of the table after gameweek seven. They have comfortably beaten London giants Chelsea and Arsenal. Moreover, they showed that they still have the capability of grinding out results. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah’s prolific goalscoring form could be decisive.
Fabinho has shown he is more than capable of filling in as a centre-back. While that doesn’t make him a perfect Van Dijk replacement, the Brazilian is making meaningful contributions to organize the Liverpool defence. New recruits Diego Jota and Thiago have also been excellent.
Defensive frailties continue to haunt Pep Guardiola’s Man City as they have already surrendered a handful points due to their average defending. Spurs have been brilliant as an attacking unit with Harry Kane and Heung Min Son looking like they are enjoying the form of their lives.
But, the Lilywhites have also proven to be vulnerable in the back, and they have dropped some precious points already. Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton made some fantastic signings in the summer but after a four-match winning run, the prospects of a title charge seems quite bleak.
Chelsea have spent generously in the transfer market to strengthen their team, but it is clear that they would require more time to gel as a cohesive unit. Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal seems to be an exciting project, but they don’t look any better than a top 4 side at best.
Leicester City have shown in the past that they are capable of pulling off miracles, and their current team is quite brilliant as well. But, we believe they lack the squad depth to mount a title win. Plus, Brendon Rodgers’ notoriety to capitulate towards the end of the season is also a factor. anchester United have been nothing short of shambolic in the league. They can make a late recovery, but it would be too late for a title charge, we reckon. So, in our book, Liverpool seems to be the logical choice to go for as the ultimate Premier League favourites.
