Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council Member Nana Sarfo Oduro has explained why he believes Otto Addo is a top coach, despite criticism over the Black Stars' poor form in the AFCON qualifiers.
According to Oduro, Addo's achievement in qualifying the Black Stars for the 2022 FIFA World Cup is a significant accomplishment that demonstrates his tactical acumen and resilience.
"He is a top coach. He qualified us to the World Cup. Another 'Mourinho' could have lost," Oduro said on Asempa FM.
Oduro emphasised that Addo's World Cup qualification is a notable achievement, and that critics should not focus solely on the team's failure to qualify for the AFCON 2025. "Otto Addo is doing two things. He is at the point of qualifying for the World Cup, though he could not qualify for the AFCON. So what shows he has not performed well?" Oduro asked.
Ghana will play their next game in March against Chad and Madagascar in the World Cup qualifiers, and Oduro is optimistic that Addo can lead the team to success.
Oduro believes that Addo has the potential to qualify Ghana for the 2026 World Cup, and that his experience and tactical acumen make him a valuable asset to the team.
