Former Hearts of Oak ace Winful Cobbinah has issued an apology to Thomas Abbey over comments made against his ex-teammate last month.

Abbey was in the news for wrong reasons last month after claiming that [Hearts of Oak] players refused to train prior to the 2017 FA Cup final against Asante Kotoko in Tamale because the club were owing the playing body three months salaries.

But Cobbina swiftly came out to vehemently debunk Abbey's remarks and said the former captain is frustrated because his desire to return to the club was rejected.

The FK Tirana midfielder again made a wild allegation against Abbey, saying he chose money over Hearts of Oak during their stay at the club.

"Going into that game, Hearts were not owing us. We took the game easy but Kotoko were hungry for success and that is why they scored us," Cobbina told Angel FM.

"I would like to apologize to Thomas Abbey for my comment. I didn't grant any interview with the media about his comment but it was just an idea sharing on the players platform which someone leaked it."

"If he has heard and taken it personal, i will plead with him to forgive me because i don't have any problem with him," he added.

Hearts of Oak were thumped 3-1 by Asante Kotoko courtesy Saddick Adams' first half hat-trick before Abbey snatched a second half consolation.
