Winning starts for Jordan, Syria, Saudi Arabia

Zarqa: Jordan opened their West Asia Football Federation U-15 Boys Championship 2019 on a high with a 2-0 win over Oman at the Prince Mohammed Stadium in Zarqa on Monday.

Jordan's goals were scored by Omar Marar and Omar Azazma as the hosts set the early pace in Group.

Up next for Jordan will be Palestine on Friday, with Oman playing the Palestinians on Wednesday.

Syria, meanwhile, opened their Group A campaign with a 1-0 win over Lebanon with Anees Qassem scoring the winning goal.

Syria will look to confirm top spot in Group A when they meet Bahrain on Wednesday.

In Group C, Saudi Arabia edged Iraq 1-0 with Muhanad Abdulla's effort deciding the tie.

Iraq will face Kuwait next on Wednesday.

The tournament format will see the top team from each of the three groups squaring off in a second round-robin competition, with the same applying for the second and third-placed teams.
