Wishy washy apology as Normalisation Committee statement refuses to apologise to Premier League clubs

The Normalisation Committee of the GFA has taken a turn for the worse after shockingly snubbing the Parliamentary Sports Select Committee by offering a half-hearted apology for their insulting words directed at the Ghana Premier League club owners.

The Parliamentary Sports Select Committee hauled the leadership of the Normalisation Committee on Tuesday and ordered them to issue an apology to the clubs for branding their queries as 'selfishness, greed and braggadocio'.

But the Normalisation Committee completely ignored the order from the lawmakers by justifying their use of words against owners of the clubs who include some of the highest revered paramount chiefs in the country like the Asantehene Otumfuo of Kotoko, Hearts of Oak's Togbe Afede and Dormaahene of Aduana Stars..

Lacking empathy and the statement itself extremely brief, the state quickly changed the subject to “extensively consulting” moves that has already been made.

Displaying the pomposity that has become the norm with the caretaker committee, the statement did not have any word of contrition or humility as they rather sought to defend their use of the insulting words to the owners of the clubs who spend their own monies to run clubs.

"We would like to state unequivocally that the import of that paragraph was in reference to the theme of the Anas exposè. When greed and corruption becomes the norm," the statement signed by the out of his wits NC spokesman Dan Kweku Yeboah.

"The said statement was to reassure Ghanaians that our core mandate of normalizing Ghana football will be fulfilled and that we will not allow the attributes of greed, selfishness and braggadocio that were exhibited in the Anas’ Exposè destroy our football.

"We have over the past few months shown tremendous respect for the people of Ghana and the football community by extensively consulting with all the major football constituents since we took office.

"Once again we want to assure the good people of the nation that Ghana football will be normalized and the inborn beauty of our football enterprise shall rise again," the statement concluded without offering an apology to the clubs.

The development is likely to anger more people and turn the lawmakers against the Normalisation Committee that's expected to help improve things in the game in the country.
