Wolves seal Frimpong loan deal

Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed the signing of Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong on loan for the rest of the season.

The 19-year-old underwent a medical at the club's training ground on Friday and is set to make his Wanderers debut in their clash with Chelsea on Monday.

Frimpong, who was also linked with loan moves to QPR, Aston Villa and Fulham, is a graduate of the Gunners' Academy and made his senior debut in August.

He has made 14 appearances so far this season across all competitions but remains behind Alex Song in Arsene Wenger's first choice XI.

The Gunners manager is hoping the Ghanaian-born star can gain some valuable Premier League experience between now and the end of the season.

A statement on the club's offical website said: "Everyone at Arsenal wishes Emmanuel the best of luck during his time at Molineux."

His arrival at Wanderers is a timely one for boss Mick McCarthy, who will be without Jamie O'Harauntil the end of January after a hernia operation while Nenad Milijas starts a three-match ban on Monday following his red card against Arsenal.

Frimpong could line-up on Monday alongside another new signing, Eggert Jonsson, who will complete a £600,000 switch to the Midlands from Hearts when the window opens on Sunday.
