Women WAFU Nations Cup: Ghana’s Portia Boakye emerges Top Scorer of the tournament

Ghana Black Queens winger Portia Boakye emerged the top scorer of the 2018 Women WAFU Nations Cup held in Ivory Coast.

The former Fabulous Ladies forward scored four goals and made three assists to emerge the winner of the golden boot.

Portia was an influential member of the Black Queens team that won the WAFU Nations Cup on Saturday afternoon, beating host nation Ivory Coast by a lone goal in the final.

The intelligent forward scored twice against Burkina Faso and Niger in the group stage of the competition.

Ghana started the tournament on a low key, suffering a 1-0 defeat to Ivory Coast but Portia inspired the side to record a massive wins over Niger and Burkina Faso.

The Black Queens will be using the WAFU triumph as a massive boost towards the 2018 Africa Women’s Championship to be hosted in Ghana later this year.
