Ghana fans back home are backing the national team to clinch a World Cup semi-final berth by beating Uruguay on Friday at the Soccer City Stadium.

A wave of intense celebration washed over the West African country after an extra-time goal from striker Asamoah Gyan secured a 2-1 win over USA sent them through to the quarter-final stage.

"We know beating Uruguay will be tough but the boys should not lose hope until the final whistle. We are capable of beating so Go Black Stars Go and qualify," Akosua, a Pub owner in Accra said.

A paraphernalia dealer Daniel Lamptey wants Ghana to continue winning to boost sales: "If they winning then sales will go up and that is what am praying for now."

Ghana is the third African country to earn a quarter-final slot at a World Cup final.
