World Cup 2010: Ghana press for win over Germany

Published on: 22 June 2010

A point will suffice for Ghana against Germany on Wednesday for them to reach the second round of the World Cup but the Black Stars want all three.

Victory in Johannesburg will ensure Ghana top Group D, and will lead to Germany's elimination from the tournament.

Leading scorer Asamoah Gyan, who has notched twice from the spot in games against Australia and Serbia, says the Africans will not be satisfied with a draw.

If it finishes all square, Ghana will definitely go through, but may not be the first-placed team in the section.

"All Ghanaians are expecting a win from us and even though a draw will do, we are not going for that," he said.

"We want a win. If it does happen to be a draw, we will still qualify, but as I said, we have to think positively and try to win."
