Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan must to be beat USA again

In-form Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan says his team mates must put their qualification behind them and focus on beating USA on Saturday at the World Cup.

Ghana on Wednesday night advanced to the last 16 stage- on superior goal difference- despite a 1-0 reverse to three-time champions Germany.

Gyan who has replicated his club form at the tournament and scored all of Ghana's two goals in the Group stage.

The Rennes forward expects a difficult battle against USA at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium as they seek a quarter-final berth.

"The Americans, though, are a very good team, they expend a lot of energy and are strong physically. But we too have good players, it is for that that we have so much self-confidence," he said.

Gyan also revealed they will grind out the results and make the continent proud although he wished the number of African countries in the first knock-out round had been more than the single slot.

"We are very happy (to have qualified), even if we wanted to have other African teams come through as well."

"We are on the right path and we are representing our continent, which makes us very happy.

Gyan, 24, was Ghana's top scorer at the Africa Cup of Nations early this year in their silver medal winning feat.
