Cristiano Ronaldo, who missed this Saturday's game against Real Sociedad with a niggling knee injury, returned to training on Sunday with Real Madrid.

Real boss, Carlo Ancelotti decided to rest the Portuguese striker for the game at Anoeta in a bid to get him fully fit. Cristiano suffered two consecutive scares, against Rayo Vallecano and Borussia Dortmund after suffering a relapse to his injury.

The Real squad held a recovery session behind closed doors today, just two days before their Champions League quarter-final return leg against Dortmund.

Ancelotti had Casillas and Jesús at his disposal - who trained under goalkeeping coach Villiam Vechi -, as well as outfield players Cristiano Ronaldo, Di María, Morata, Varane, Casemiro, Coentrão and Castilla striker, Willian José.

The 11 players who started this Saturday's 4-0 thrashing of Real Sociedad all trained indoors at the club's facilities, whilst the injured Khedira, Arbeloa, Jesé and Marcelo were also absent on the pitch.
