Mali reignited their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with a commanding 3-0 victory over Comoros in their matchday five clash on Thursday. The game, played at the Stade Municipal de Berkane in Morocco, saw the Malien Eagles deliver a clinical performance to secure a crucial three points.

Tom Saintfiet’s side started the match with high intensity, controlling possession, and pressing their opponents from the onset.

Their dominance paid off in the 20th minute when Nene Dorgeles latched onto a well-placed pass from Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma to fire home the opening goal.

Mali continued to push forward, but Comoros' defence held firm to prevent further damage before halftime.

The Eagles resumed the second half with the same attacking intent, and it didn’t take long for them to double their lead.

Just ten minutes after the restart, VfB Stuttgart forward El Bilal Toure set up Kamory Doumbia, who made no mistake in finding the back of the net.

The pair combined again in the 63rd minute, with Bissouma providing another assist for Doumbia’s second goal of the match, sealing a comprehensive victory for Mali.

With this crucial win, Mali climbs to fourth place in Group I with eight points, just behind Comoros, who remain third.

Madagascar and Ghana currently occupy the top two spots in the group standings.

Mali will look to build on this momentum when they face the Central African Republic in their next qualifier on Monday, while Comoros will seek redemption against Chad a day later.
