France are favourites to beat Argentina as they progressed from the group stages top with seven points from a possible nine, staying unbeaten and conceding just one goal for their troubles. Argentina, however, had only one point from their first two games and finished second with only four points.

Uruguay’s game with Portugal could go either way. Uruguay haven’t yet conceded a goal in the World Cup and progressed into the knockouts with a perfect nine points. Portugal finished second in their group with five points but haven’t gone a game without scoring, so they can’t be ruled out regardless.

If the two games on Saturday go the way of the favourites, France will face Uruguay in the World Cup quarter-finals on Friday, July 6 at Nizhny Novgorod.
