World Cup qualifiers: Zimbabwe sack head coach Zdravko Logarusic ahead of Ghana clash

Ghana will face Zimbabwe next month without former Kotoko coach Zdravko Logarusic on the bench because he has been sacked by the Warriors.

Logarusic's dismissal is simply because Zimbabwe haven’t improved and they keep churning out poor results.

Logarusic has been in charge of 14 games and Zimbabwe have won only one, lost eight and drawn five.

The 1-0 defeat to Ethiopia last week proved to be the final nail in Logarusic’s coffin because that result left Zimbabwe languishing bottom of Group G in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

Logarusic was named head coach in January 2020 and guided the Warriors to their fifth Africa Cup of Nations qualification, but recent results and performances has forced the association to terminate his contract.

The Croat is quite popular in Ghana having coached giants Asante Kotoko and their regional rivals AshantiGold.

Zimbabwe come up against wounded Ghana next month in a doubleheader World Cup qualifier. The Black Stars are desperate to get back on top of the table with six maximum points.
