Xavi targets Arthur Cabral as Barcelona's January priority

Published on: 25 November 2021

Xavi Hernandez has taken stock of what he has at his disposal at Barcelona and the Catalan coach is now ready to target a centre forward to add goals to their game.

The new boss is clear that the side's biggest flaw is their lack of goals, and he is aware that they need reinforcements up top, having seen his team score just once in his first two games.

Barcelona are attentive to Xavi's desires and they will now prioritise the signing of a forward when the market reopens in January.

The name who is currently top of their shortlist is Arthur Cabral, who has scored 24 goals in 25 games already this season. Barcelona are lining him up on an initial loan deal with an option to make the transfer permanent, though it's likely to be a permanent buyout at the end of the season.

The Brazilian has been on the books at Basel since landing in Europe from Palmeiras.
