Ghana midfielder Ishmael Yartey will sign for Sochaux on Monday after successful medicals, MTNFootball.com can exclusively reveal.

The 22-year-old arrived in France on Friday to undergo the test ahead of his move to the Ligue 1 club.

He will sign a four-year contract worth $5m with the top-flight club on Monday with massive improvement in his salary.

This comes after the French Ligue 1 won the race to sign the hugely-talented left winger from Portuguese giants Benfica.

The 22-year-old, who was loan to Swiss side Servette last season, was being pursued by French clubs Lille, Marseille, Dutch club AZ Alkmaar and German side Borussia Monchengladbach.

But Sochaux, boosted by the cash from Modibo Maiga’s transfer to West Ham United, gave a better offer which prompted Benfica to agree to the deal tabled by the French.

He will be signed as a replacement for Maiga who was the club’s playmaker before he left for the English Premier League this week.

Yartey scored eight goals for Servette last season.

The midfielder will be the first Ghanaian to play for Sochaux.
