Yaw Preko wants Ghana coaching post

Former Ghana winger Yaw Preko has thrown his hat into the Black Stars coaching ring insisting he can lead the national team to win titles.

Over fifty foreign coaches have applied for the post vacated by Serbian manager Milovan Rajevac.

Preko, who played for Belgian giants Anderlecht in the 1990s, says he has acquired the necessary certificates and experience to be able to lead the World Cup quarter finalists.

The winger said with many Ghanaian players gaining experience by working under world class coaches in Europe it is time they are given the opportunity to handle the national team.

“I am going to submit my Curriculum Vitae (CV) when GFA opens the door for the job," Preko told Asempa FM.

Preko identified discipline as the only problem with the Black Stars saying he will lead the Black Stars with strictness.

"The Stars coaching job is the easiest of all the coaching at the national team level, what you need is the iron hand to enforce and maintain discipline and you are there,” Preko said.

Preko started his career in Accra with local youth team Powerlines before joining giants Hearts of Oak.

He joined Anderlecht after excelling at the U17 World Cup in 1989 before helping the Belgian club to win the league title three times.

He played in Turkey from 1997-2004 before joining Halmstads BK in the Swedish Allsvenska.

Preko then signed for Saudi Arabian team Al-Ettifaq and stayed with them for almost two years before ending his career in Vietnam with HAGL.

Preko holds a CAF license “B” certificate and is currently understudying coaches at home and Europe.
